Côte-Rôtie La Germine 2010

Côte-Rôtie La Germine 2010 - Domaine Duclaux

Robert Parker : (90/100) The 2010 Cote Rotie La Germine reveals a more saturated dark plum/purple color as well as broad, savory, expansive, smoky, meaty notes intertwined with notions of bouquet garni, kirsch and raspberry liqueur. Drink this plump, opulent, medium-bodied 2010 over the next decade. The Duclaux brothers continue to fashion elegant, savory, seductive Cote Roties that are easy to drink young, yet are capable of lasting a decade or more

Jonathan Livingstone-Learmonth :****(*) (casks) dark, full red; rich, biscuits and black berry aroma, shows its ripeness, is sweet, and has an animal tang also, cold tea leaves present. A little oak, and some encouraging mystery are attached to it. That animal-feral note also occurs on the attack; very thorough, traditional, lip-smacking Côte-Rôtie that is full of dark, fleshy fruit and textured richness. Bounty in the glass here; it is wide and unconstrained on the finish. Good length, no slip-ups en route. It could close down, is not straightforward, has length and drive. It needs time to arrange itself, is long, and has a tarry ending. drink From 2014-15. 2024-26. tasted in Nov 2011

Tasted journal : Light to medium, ruby red; the nose is perfumed, floral and sweet with crushed berries, pepper and dry spices; medium bodied, fresh and dense palate with peppery notes, smoke and a long, spicy finish. 90 (Andreas Larsson).

Dark, purple red with violet hue. Slightly smoky nose with aromas of dark berries, but also vanilla and a touch of caramel. On the palate well balanced with fine acidity, masterly integrated tannins and good length. 90 (Markus Del Monego)

Côte-Rôtie Maison-Rouge

Côte-Rôtie Maison-Rouge - Domaine Duclaux

Robert Parker (94/100)  : The 2010 Cote Rotie Maison Rouge exhibits copious aromas of bacon fat, black raspberries, licorice, smoked game and Christmas fruitcake. An herbal character is present in the mouth, but this medium to full-bodied wine possesses outstanding fruit purity , complexity and suppleness. Consume it over the next 10-12 years.

John Livingstone-Learmonth ***** : sound red robe; smoky, somewhat fungal air that is reductive, bears ripe fruit within and some floral scenting. It is an elegant bouquet , with a good grouping of its aroma. Good, STGT style  on the palate, a terroir wine. It carries snappy tannins and a genuine Côte-Rôtie feel, encouraged by the freshness of the year. There is some oak ingrained, it shows orderly gras richness on the finish – a tarry, generous element there. A wine of character, no messing around, has good length, plenty in the late stages. From late 2013. 2024-26. Tasted in Nov 2011 (STGT means : Soil to Glass Transfer).

Press review vintage 2009 - Domaine Duclaux

Robert Parker : (93/100) : The Duclaux brothers have turned out two exceptional Cote Roties in 2009. Both are seductive , fruit-forward efforts that are capable of lasting a decade. Even richer, fuller, more structured and powerful, the 2009 Cote Rotie Maison Rouge exhibits a more saturated ruby/plum/purple color, full body and notes of licorice , raspberries, black currants, forest floor and spring flowers. Drink this super Cote Rotie now and over the next decade.

Wine spectator  - Maison-Rouge 2009 (93/100) : Shows a lot of range, with blackberry, blueberry and dark plum fruit woven with toasty spice, black tea and anise notes. Long and polished through the finish, with a graphite edge buried deep in the fleshy fruit. Drink now through 2020.—J.M.

John Livingstone-Learmonth Maison-Rouge : ***** bright, promising dark red robe, black tints. Good, safe bouquet – it is tight, led by light game notes and ripe black fruit – the ripeness well done, and leading on to a more robust, young barrier – a "do not pass for now" moment, the oak on guard. The palate`s black fruit is light on its feet, even with its depth and quality there is a refined side. It runs consistently, and has elegant potential. There is a fine line of fruit, the flavour emerging as blueberry with space, breeze, minerality around it. Good balance, very good length, very promising. From 2014. 2025-27 Nov 2010

Press review before vintage 2010

Press review before vintage 2010 - Domaine Duclaux

The Wine enthusiast : La Germine 2007 is Attractive and séductive, with floral berry aromas mixing with notes of sour plum, light oak, sousbois and spice. The palate is fairly full and creamy, and overall this is a really nice, functional, solid wine with just enough heft and toast to qualify as “modern” in style. Made with 5 % viognier. "

Decanter,  Maison Rouge 2006 : Tight mulberry and bramble fruit, touch of smoke. Good charm and clarity . Sound length. Classic for the vintage. From 2010

Robert Parker. (93/100) The superb, opaque purple-hued 2003 Côte-Rôtie boasts a big, sumptuous bouquet of bacon fat, honeysuckle, litchi nuts, and jammy black cherries and cassis. Dense and full-bodied, with abundant fruit and glycerin as well as plush, opulent, voluptuous texture, it will provide plenty of pleasure over the next 10-14 years

Decanter  « Côte-Rôtie 1989 Edmond DUCLAUX has been judged to be Highly Recommended in an expert Decanter Magazine blind tasting ».
